The Tiaracht, from Inis Vickillane, (both Islands of the Blasket Group). The buildings on the left hand side of the Island are associated with the lighthouse which is just around the other side out of view. The island is so difficult to access the lighthouse keepers and assistants actually lived on the island, where they kept goats, rabbits and hens, and even grew vegetables on this very rocky terrain. There were no helicopters in those days, and even now, the regular checks on the now solar and generator powered lighthouse can be problematic for the helicopter because of the fierce winds that can suddenly arise.
