Photographs from the North Eastern state of Mizoram, and the Kodaikanal region of Tamil Nadu in Southern India.
The most recent photos here are from the state of Mizoram, in North East India. They were taken around Christmas and New Year 2019 - 2020. Mizoram has a very different character and culture from mainland India. The people are from South East Asian tribes, and were converted to Christianity, from about the end of the 19th Century. Almost 90% are Christian, and the state has one of the highest literacy rates in India. It is also one of the poorest states of India. That said, there appears to be nothing poor about the culture and values that are practised by the people, who have a tremendous sense of community and caring for others.
Below the Mizoram photos there are some photographs from the Kodaikanal region of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. It was rainy season and there was a heavy mist in some parts.
These older Kodaikanal photos were taken a long time ago before digital photography. I have scanned these old prints and made digital images. They aren't as good as images created with a good digital camera, but I thinks they are not bad and I have decided to offer them for sale. They may have a grainy quality, but in a way it kind of enhances them and adds to the aged feel of the photos.
All photos are printed with high quality long lasting pigment inks on Fine Art paper or high quality photographic paper.
SPECIAL OFFER: Free digital copies of Mizoram photos available to any person in Mizoram. Please don't hesitate to ask.
